Centrino WLAN working now, Intel supported driver
There are now three different solutions to use the Intel PRO/Wireless 2100 wlan adapter under linux:
- Intel PRO/Wireless 2100 Driver for Linux:
This open source driver seems to be somehow supported by Intel, although the developers don't have hardware information available (Why not, Intel?).
- The LinuxANT driverloader
(closed source) can be used to load the
Windows XP drivers for the Intel WLAN that's used in this computer and in many other Centrino notebooks
as well. Driverloader is not free, but there is a 30 day trial version available.
Note that I am not able to confirm that it works due to lack of compatible WLAN gear.
See also this
and this
thread at the gentoo forums to read about other people's experiences with driverloader.
- The ndiswrapper project
(open source) seems to provide the same functionality as the linuxant driverloader (see above).
